New Hubs for Zeon

Picked up some Eagle R31 rear hubs & C hubs for the zeon as Kazama's don't seem to be in production anymore, i never really liked the 13 degree C hubs i had for it always felt like too much castor to me. So i went with Eagles V2 r31 C hub that has plastic shims for adjustable castor you can choose between 8,12 or 16 degree i went with 8 deg.Then a just a set of their alloy rear hubs to finish off the alloy stuff on this chassis.

ZEON CS UP!

With limited CS options available / still in production or actually knowing what fits the zeon without being able to read Japanese it's hard to know how to get a higher CS ratio on the zeon. Zeon and GRK's have very similar gear cases and i think the early GRK'S actually used street jam cases altho i could be wrong.
So i went with some R31 House GRK gears to up my ratio,I already have the Street Jam under drive set for the front that gives you 1.45 CS and have now added added R31 House 19T & 39T gears in the rear to give me 1.73 CS.
I'll give a quick run down of what i did to make the R31 House gears fit the zeon.

First off this is the standard R31 House gear that is modded it also comes with an aluminium 39T ring gear not pictured as there are no mods needed to fit it.
What needs to be done is the lip closest to the teeth needs to be machined/ground back closer to the teeth so that the bearing sits closer to the teeth and the gear doesn't sit so far into the case to allow a proper mesh.

This is after i ground back the lip so that the bearing can sit further up the shaft it sits in the correct position within the case and meshes with the other gear properly. 

 i also took a little off the end of the slotted end of the gear to let the drive cup sit in the proper position. this was done without measurement just test fit and taking small amounts off at time.

The bearing now sits past the first groove you can see on the shaft and meshes with the other gear well within the gear case etc. This all would have been a lot easier with a small lathe and would look alot nicer but it works, it was all done with the gear placed in a drill and a file. I don't take any responsibility for anyone's ruined gears if they want to try this haha it just what i did.

The ZEON hasn't been getting much love lately but a friend just got the new MK4 so will be interesting to see how they compare, Might make me a little more interested in it as ive been focusing on the CE-RX so much.

Got the TS ZEON front brace as there are clearance issues with the knuckle tie rod once you run the aftermarket steering wiper these curve the other way to give you a heap more clearance.

And picked up the TS spur holder for no reason other than i like it haha

Got the D'Magic light bucket set for a S14 project

And a wing for my 180SX project

All the re-anodized parts are fitted to the CE-RX now so it's pretty much how i want it now

The red isn't a perfect match but close enough happy with how this servo horn turned out seeing it was Tamiya blue after a de-anodize and polish it came up nice .

First run

First run out at the warehouse with the CE-RX and I love it even with basically no tuning done! I think I will up the CS from 1.46 to around 1.6 - 1.8 

Running the 86 body on the CE-RX & changed from Street Jam mediums to hards slowed the car down a bit which a lot of the other guys are starting to do making for some closer driving.

CE-RX & ZEON chilling, zeon had gone from 7 deg castor to 13 deg seemed to make it change direction a lot quicker. I think I'll drop it back to 10deg when I can get my hands on the blue Kazama C hubs.

Crimson Lightening arrived...

My RC-Art crimson lightening arrived today, I've been wanting one of these for ages now but they haven't done another production run on a year or so, pics of the new prototype have popped up to but can't get word on a release. Browsing yahoo auctions this one popped up for a reasonable price so I jumped on it.

Here it is fresh out the box, I was relived to see it is in great condition only a few marks here and there seems the last owner took good care of it.i gave it a clean and look over everything seems to be fine. Started to fit the electronics out of the VDF Keyence 10.5T & Tachyon Aria, still needs a few things and tidy ups.

So here's my current chassis VDF roller (sold this week) OTA Zeon and the Crimson Lightening. Need to see if I can get the Kazama bits anodised red.
